From responsible raw material purchasing to sustainable packaging: We show our transparent sustainability implementation concepts for SiSiSi. Because modern catering needs more than just taste – it needs attitude. We also demonstrate this concept with the two leaves in the SiSiSi logo.

Packaging, responsibility and sustainability

Sustainability is an integral part of our corporate strategy – especially when it comes to packaging.

We currently use white PP (polypropylene) trays for our bowls, as there is currently no technical alternative available that guarantees the required food safety and shelf life under high humidity conditions (autoclaving, steam preparation, transport). Black PP – as the wide-spread industry solution – are out of the question for us. Our white trays are recyclable in the existing system.

Strategy

Our packaging strategy:

  • Primary packaging: Unprinted, white films for improved recyclability
  • Secondary packaging: From autumn 2025 we will only be using recyclable cardboard sleeves made from renewable raw materials
  • Tertiary packaging: Recyclable corrugated cardboard for logistics units
  • Packaging guidelines: FSC-certified, BPA- & PFAS-free, without exterior packaging

What we actively do:

  • Material testing: We are constantly monitoring the market, testing new monomaterials and consulting with experts
  • Optimised logistics: Bundling of transport consignments, prevention of refrigerated interim storage, cooperation with low-emission logistics partners
  • Regional procurement: Raw materials are preferably sourced from within a radius of 100 km from our production site
  • Supply chain with standards: No air freight, focus on regionality, tested sustainable materials. IFS certification.

Our
Goal

We are continuously working on using a fully sustainable menu tray as soon as a safe and market-ready solution is available. Until then we will be focusing on maximum recyclability, transparent supply chains and sustainable processes – without compromising on food quality or safety.
